This is fascinating!

In order to save Hill House from the rain, they've encased it in a box. A box made of chain mail, in order to dry it out slowly over 15 years.

The presenter, Tom Scott, has a whole slew of videos. Based on the three I've seen so far (this one, Hill Hill Hill Hill, and the most expensive object by weight), I'm going to be watching them all.

That is a super cool use of chain mail - I never would have expected that to have industrial applications! I wonder if they have a long range plan once the house is dried out and being restore, where they cut up all the chain mail and resell it in gift shops, or if there's a waiting list of other houses that could use the same approach.

The presenter said that it's 100% recyclable - just melt it down and use it again, but I'll bet you're right and there are A LOT of people who'd like to have a piece of it.
