Well, Rodney (the McKay part of McShep) is nervous and excitable enough to give credence to the border-collie aspect, but John (the Sheppard part of McShep) is very much not. He's more of a, hmmm, er, um, what's a type of dog that's really laconic until it kills a lot of enemies at once?
