well, now I've done it
Not like it's an actual feat or anything, but
I've finished the Supernatural stories on fanfiction.net. Started at the oldest and worked my way up to now. I'm not claiming to have read them all. I skipped authors I didn't enjoy (including one who, I kid you not, spelled 'voila' as 'wa-la'), and any story where the summary contained:
A) a sister (and why is that such a common plot?)
B) a female hunter who joins forces with the boys (didn't much care for Jo, either. Kripke veers into fanfic, which reacts much like oncoming traffic)
C) cute Wee!chester schmoopiness/angsty hunting (okay, I did read [and even enjoy] some of the schmoops)
D) "but I suck at summaries" (and that makes me want to read your actual writing, how?)
E) Dean/Jo, Sam/Jo, Dean/Bela, Sam/Bela, Dean/Ruby, Sam/Ruby or Dean/Cassie (but, notice, not Dean/Sam or Sam/Sarah)
Also, I cheated. At around page 147 of 315, I stopped reading fics over 20,000 words unless the author or summary was really compelling. I've reset my search parameters and am now going to go back through the (only) 37 pages and see what's there to be had. If only I'd made a note of the first long fic I skipped, I wouldn't have to try to find my place again. Ah, hindsight. So sharp.
Is it wrong that I feel as if I've actually accomplished something when all I've really done is sat on my ass and read online? Now I'm done, it leaves me more time to read stuff on LJ.
Get to writing, people. *grin*

I will further admit that I skipped plenty of stories on the last 50 pages, not for any of the above reasons, but because the summaries didn't thrill me. Most of the tags for No Rest for the Wicked hit me that way.
If only I could apply this diligence to repainting all the windows on the second floor. *sigh*
