Here are Dean's legs and jacket to bend you to my will.
Stop reading my blatherings and go read this fantastic fic instead. This assumes anybody's reading this, which is not likely. Still, horses to water and all.
http://esohpe.livejournal.com/14570.html
esohpe's The Jared Padalecki Untitled Project (if you don't love it, you're just not trying)
http://ladyjanelly.livejournal.com/t ag/homeless+jensen
ladyjanelly's "In From the Cold" (a homeless Jensen AU, 19 chaps so far)
Edited to say that it's now complete. And lovely.
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2748108/1/S trangers_and_Angels
This is the first in reading's Strangers and Angels 'verse. 7 stories, varying lengths, each complete, and each a gem. You can get the rest on her author's page.
Edited because she's written 2 more in the 'verse.

*is not useful*
I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
Even if you are against the RPS, you should try this one. Just pretend it's two other people named J & J. Jensen is homeless, sort of mentally damaged and watched over by Jeff, who is himself homeless and massively claustrophobic. Jared is an ex-EMT and current med student working in a clinic. The writing is lovely, especially in Jensen's fractured view. It's so AU it's more fiction than RPS. Give it a go.
How about Under the Haystack by janissa11 ?
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2887172/1/Under_a_Haystack
or
Endgame by pingthing (which is Faye Dartmouth & geminigrl together)
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2823536/1/
or
Where We Find God by Ridley C. James
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2726422/1/
I'm just bossy is all, and I want people to read all the stuff I like so... I don't even know why.
Hey, I'm awake late. Are you? Or are you up early?
list *is not useful* or refur *is not useful* ? Because the second statement will NEVER be true.
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
Speaking of which, I don't really do kid!fic, hence I haven't read Regression or Under a Haystack, and my general experience of Ridley has been that I don't really get on with her writing. BUT! Gem and Faye have a joint venture? How did I not know this? I am SO there.
I'm neither awake late nor up early -- it's around eleven a.m. where I am. And heh, I am frequently lacking in use. I also feel kinda bad for shooting down all your suggestions. I'm just really, really picky when it comes to subject matter ;).
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
And you didn't shoot them all down. It doesn't help that I suggested some of the most popular/well-known names/titles around.
I have other suggestions in this light. How do you feel about tags?
You've probably read Faye's "Of Guilt and Redemption," an Asylum tag. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3290631/1/
or sunrize's "Sounds of Silence," a Childen Shouldn't... tag
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3240632/1/
Two non-tags, first "Stuck Together" by a_blackwinged_bird"
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3161368/1/
and "Feels Like Midnight" by happycabbage75
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3052810/1/
Let me know. Or tell me to stop, 'cause that's not my forte.
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
Heh, and I have indeed read all of those (and I adore Stuck Together in particular). I have read way too much fanfic the last year and a half. Especially of the limp!Sam persuasion. *shifty eyes*
What kind of thing do you tend to like?
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
I should qualify by saying that there are about 30 authors whose work I Just. Can't. Read. Lack of spelling or punctuation or any redeeming storylines threw them out of the pool. Also, any fic where they have a sister. Or kids. And most of those in which they team up with a (particularly female) hunter outside of canon. Exceptions abound, of course. I'll give those stories from a trusted author a chance. Anything over 100,000 words I'm going to come back when I've finished and give a go.
Good news is, I have honed my skills at detaching. I used to have to finish whatever I started. I read _The Name of the Rose_ all the way through, for God's sake. Took about a month (I average a book/day - or did before fanfic) 'cause I could only take about 20 pages before I had to pitch it in the corner to let my brain cooldown. Too dense, too detailed, unnecessarily so. Finished it, though. Nowadays I wouldn't bother. Fanfic has taught me to disengage, so not a total waste, right? What? It's an important skill.
Nothing wrong with liking the limp! Of either flavor. I presume you know about Faye's Limp!Sam website?
I like the limp, and the angst and just a good story. Although if there's TOO much adversity it becomes like the movie Armegeddon, where you just go 'come ON, they can't catch ONE freakin' break?' and you're thrown out of the realistic action onscreen. (You should be laughing and/or groaning at that comment - if it worked as intended)
I like fics where the boys are smart; where the plot doesn't hinge on them making huge obvious oversights of either judgement or common sense. I like the psychological aspect of their travels and travails just as much as the action. Because, really, how many different ways are there to launch/throw/fling/hurl Dean into an grave monument/headstone/memorial/wall?
Loooooove Bobby, which just proves I'm right in the head. And humor, 'cause I'm witte. Not a typo, my last name is Witte, pronounced same as witty. I am a homonym, as well as an adjective
Or, hey, just look at the stuff you've written, because that's the stuff I like.
What was the question again? *snerk*
Have you read lemmealone's Holy Water? (gen - can't synopsize)
http://lemmealone.livejournal.com/222897.html?style=mine
Or gekizetsu's Unspoken (Limp!Sam)
http://gekizetsu.net/sn/unspoken.htm
gekizetsu's anything, really. Try the Month of Open Doors Cycle, Or the Turn of the Wheel (which is wingcest)
If you like Wincest, I reccommend Astolat. All her stuff, in every fandom that I've read, is either het or slash. She's done at least 2 iterations of Groundhog Day, one before Mystery Spot aired and one after, set within the episode. Link opens at Supernatural, scroll for other fandoms. Link to all her fic:
http://intimations.org/fanfic/#Supernatural
'Sall for now. I will find you new fic. Which is self-defeating, if I think about it. The more you read, the less you'll be writing. That's what's slowing me down (is my excuse). Ignore the above links and get back to work, wench.
May I call you 'wench?'
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
Holy crap! You're a braver woman than I! Or possibly more of a glutton for punishment. I still go there occasionally, but mainly when I just want some good, straightforward Sam-whumping. Damn these LJ writers and their demands for actual originality and plot!
I gave up on finishing books I started when I was in college (the first time round O_o). The good news is, I get to laugh at all of my friends who wade through crap out of some weirdo sense of duty. The bad news is, I've hardly finished a novel since I graduated. I'm good with textbooks, though!
And yeah, too much limp just gets annoying, especially torture-type scenes with no plot reason behind them and no apparent character development proceeding from them. Not that I haven't been guilty of extensive punishment of the boys myself, in my time.
And yay, I don't think I've read
In any case, I'm not reading anything right now. Been reading about the ecology of the sea-floor all afternoon, and have plans to work on my review of Asylum this evening, because brain needs to write words rather than read them :D.
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
I usually read fanfic.com in one window, and stuff on LJ in another. Do you have recs for fics or authors? I usually just wander from author to author.
Hey, now I can laugh at your friends, too. *more snerk* Have you read any of the Harry Dresden novels by Jim Butcher? SciFi/mystery/action/comedy/drama. The main character is a wiseass of the first water, so, naturally, I enjoy.
Well, write Astolet off if you're not looking for Wincest. But eigthhorizon has plenty of gen. The one I gave you is gen. At her non-LJ site, link below, there is a list of most of her work, and the oneshots, with two exceptions, are all gen. Twenty Questions and Many Windows are the two. And if you like crack, read the Yak Cycle (at the bottom) Not Wincest, but not right, either. CRACK, I say.
http://gekizetsu.net/sn/
Of course, this is when you resume reading. I heartily concur with your plans for ERoD of Asylum. Who the hell am I to stand in the way of that? Is there a method for brain stimulation? I'm at am standstill on my fic. Not quite the end, but not sure how to get there, either. Brain refuses to help. Bad brain.
Re: I suck at posting what I mean on the first try, thus 2 deletes--so far
Kate from "Dead Man's Blood" is back for revenge. Features (a lot of) Sam Whumpage, and all the Protective!Dean you could ask for.
